I can recall one oldie who would have taken you to task for using the word Fantastic in your talk.
Because fantastic derived from Fantasy, and if something was a fantasy it didn't exist. So you couldn't say "I hope our pioneers will have a fantastic time at the school."
Fantastic! Take that brother into the back room and have him shot....

he was telling me that several of the sisters wanted to put fresh flowers in the hall on a weekly basis just to pretty the place up.
he said "sure, why not, it's a great idea, and the congregation will reimburse the costs as long as they aren't too expensive.

I was talking to a friend who is an elder in a congregation near Belfast City over in Northern Ireland.
He was telling me that several of the sisters wanted to put fresh flowers in the hall on a weekly basis just to pretty the place up. He said "sure, why not, it's a great idea, and the congregation will reimburse the costs as long as they aren't too expensive."
But then there was (his words) "a bloody big row" because the coordinating elder said that the LDC (local design committee) members did not approve of flowers inside a Kingdom Hall. End of story!
So apparently every congregation has to now obey the whim of each LDC if they want to stay approved. Personal choices are FORBIDDEN.
He is PIMI but for the 1st time ever I heard him say "what the hell is this rubbish, it is becoming more like a dictatorial cult every flipping day! Over what, a couple of bunches of pretty flowers."
I hope this crack might soon widen and he will begin to see the light. Please pray that he does.

by I Faded Twice injust curious if anyone put off having kids because the end was so close.
or because of you're "ministry" or lack of suitable mates..

Sort of. I didn't meet my wife until we both were well past the bloom of youth. Me being busy as an elder, she being busy pioneering. We wish we had met 20 years earlier and had a family, but we did not. But the number of friends who kept saying "in the new world you can" didn't take the regret away.

Faders Needing a Great One Liner

we changed congregations as regular attenders and left in good standing with those giving hugs and kisses simply knowing we "needed a change".
we moved to a neighboring congregation that is out of our original region knowing we would see no one and the two boe's wouldn't really have immediate dealings.

If Angels in the Bible are of neuter gender ? Then why are they always depicted as males by description and name ? And never a female ?
by smiddy3 inin all of the art i`ve seen in christendom, angels always have the form of a male, and in the bible those that are named always have a male name such as michael ,gabriel , etc, .
nowhere in the art world that i have seen do angels have the female form, and in the bible they don`t have female names.. so if the angels are neither male or female why then are they depicted as males with male names ?and not female also ?.
the watchtower illustrators also follow this line .when they illustrate an angel it is always in the form of a male and never a female form.. the anointed who make up the 144000 comprise of male and females right ?

The clown factory at Warwick
by Sour Grapes init just amazes me how the clown factory at the borgs basilica in warwick could produce 8 clown popes that act like self-licking ice cream cones and the jdubs take them so seriously.
if the popes said that they were going to have a bible signing session at a king dumb hall 8 hours away that so many jdubs would make the trip the town would be swamped with traffic.. you know what is truly sad is when during jdub public prayers, the governing body gets more praise than the head of the congregation.
all jesus gets is the final "in jesus name.".

Before the GB started their TV self-agrandizement programme we didn't have any idea as to who they were or what they looked like.
I recall one brown noser circuit overseer who said from the circuit assembly platform that publishers did not need to know who the GB were, all they had to do was to obey them!
That's when several people in the row behind where we were sitting said loudly "no wonder people think that this is a cult."
The penny didn't drop with me until much later. Cult. Cult. Cult. Cult.
